A factory or yard price looks attractive until you add ocean freight, insurance, destination charges, import duty, VAT or GST, and local registration. A fair comparison uses landed cost — what you actually pay before you drive away.
What sits inside a landed price
- Vehicle FOB or ex-works price from the seller.
- Ocean freight and marine insurance to your port.
- Destination terminal handling and inland delivery if needed.
- Import duties, taxes and any age or engine-based levies.
- Inspection, clearance agency fees and registration.
When importing usually wins
Direct export often undercuts local retail when the model is scarce locally, when you buy in volume, or when exchange rates and duty bands favour CIF imports. The gap narrows for heavily taxed engine sizes or markets with strong local dealer networks.
Ask us for a side-by-side landed estimate against a local quote for the same specification — that is the only comparison that matters.
