Deepal (深蓝汽车) is Changan's new energy brand, built in Chongqing on the group's global manufacturing base. Most models come as a pure electric (BEV) version, a Super Range Extender (EREV) version, or both — so the real decision is body style first, drivetrain second.
The five nameplates at a glance
- Deepal S05 — compact smart SUV with a 2,880 mm wheelbase, up to 510 km CLTC (BEV) or 1,234 km combined (EREV). The volume choice for city buyers.
- Deepal S07 — mid-size SUV with Huawei Qiankun ADS SE, up to 628 km CLTC (BEV) or 1,200+ km combined (EREV).
- Deepal L07 — fastback sports sedan, 0–100 km/h in 6.2 s (BEV) and up to 1,400 km combined (EREV).
- Deepal G318 — hardcore off-road EREV with dual-motor 4WD, air suspension and 572 Nm of torque.
- Deepal S09 — full-size 6-seat flagship with 800V charging, Huawei ADS 3.0 and dual captain chairs.
Matching model to buyer
Ride-hailing and urban fleet operators usually land on the S05 or L07 BEV: low running cost, 15-minute 30–80% fast charging and a footprint that suits tight streets. Dealers serving families and professionals lean towards the S07, which balances cabin space with premium features. Mining, safari, NGO and rural-road customers belong in the G318, and executive transport or VIP rental is where the S09 earns its price.
BEV or EREV?
Where charging is reliable along regular routes, BEV versions are simpler and cheaper to run. Where grid access is patchy or trips run long between towns, EREV versions drive electrically day to day and fall back on the 1.5L range extender — no charging anxiety, and fuel is available everywhere.
